Job interview

Interview Coaching for Professionals and Executives

A job interview you really want? We’ll role-play an interview with the head of HR so you can talk about yourself without freezing or rambling. Alexander Mercury coaches candidates in London and online.

    Who it’s for

    • Professionals interviewing for a senior or career-changing role.
    • Executives facing board or panel interviews.
    • People who find it hard to talk about their own achievements.
    • Candidates interviewing in English as a second language.

    The problem it solves

Most people are far better at their job than at describing it. Under pressure they either undersell themselves or ramble until the point is lost. High stakes, and the expectations we put on ourselves, can be paralysing – and an interview is exactly that kind of moment.

Interview coaching gives you a clear way to tell your story and the practice to do it calmly, so the interviewer meets the real you rather than a nervous version.

    What happens in a session

We start with a diagnostic: you answer a few typical questions and see how you come across. Then we work on:

    • Communication frameworks to structure answers so they are short, clear and memorable.
    • Storytelling to turn your experience into examples that stick.
    • Voice and pace, so you sound certain rather than hesitant.
    • A pre-interview ritual for breath and body, so you walk in grounded.
    • Role-play with realistic questions, including the ones you’re dreading.

    Rehearsal is the method

For you, that means rehearsing the interview until you can talk about yourself with ease. You’ll practise both in-person and video formats, and each run gets immediate, honest feedback.

    Why practice beats theory

Reading about confident delivery doesn’t change how you sound when your heart rate goes up. The only reliable way to perform well under pressure is to have already done it – many times, in conditions close to the real thing. That is why every session is built around doing: you speak, you get feedback, you try again, and you notice the difference straight away.

This kinaesthetic approach means the skills live in your body, not just your notes. When the moment comes, you don’t have to remember a list of tips. Your breathing, your voice and your structure are already there, so you can pay attention to the people in front of you instead of to your own nerves.

It also means progress is visible. Recording yourself before and after shows you what has changed, which builds the kind of confidence that lasts beyond a single event.

    What you leave with

    • A short, confident answer to “tell me about yourself”.
    • Clear examples that show what you have achieved.
    • A calm voice and steady pace under pressure.
    • Practised answers to the questions you’re most worried about.

How it works – online and in London

Sessions run live on Zoom, so you can work with Alexander from anywhere, or in person in London when you want to rehearse in a real room. The work is the same either way: short explanations, lots of doing, and honest feedback straight away.

If you prefer to start on your own, the course gives you 7 modules and 21 short video classes you can work through at your own pace, with the option of personal video feedback on top.
