Accent & clarity

    Accent Coaching for Business Professionals

Alexander Mercury has coached accent reduction and business communication for over a decade. Accent coaching helps you speak English with clarity and confidence, so people focus on what you say – in London and online.

    Who it’s for

    • Professionals working in English as a second language.
    • Founders and executives presenting to international audiences.
    • People who are often asked to repeat themselves in meetings.
    • Anyone who feels their accent holds back their authority at work.

    The problem it solves

An accent is part of who you are, and the goal is not to erase it. The problem comes when sounds, rhythm or stress patterns make you harder to follow, so your expertise gets lost and you start holding back. That gap between what you know and how you come across is what this work closes.

    What happens in a session

Sessions start with a diagnostic of how you sound now – the specific sounds and patterns that most affect clarity. Then the work is practical and physical:

    • Body, breathing and articulation exercises for clean, relaxed speech.
    • Vocal foundations – pitch, pace, tone, melody and volume – to give English its natural rhythm.
    • Work on stress and intonation so your key points stand out.
    • Practice with your own material: presentations, calls and introductions.

    The approach

As an actor, Alexander works with accents professionally, and his teaching leans on kinaesthetic learning – you learn by feeling the change in your mouth and body, not by memorising rules. Small daily drills make the new habits automatic, so they hold up under pressure.

    Why practice beats theory

Reading about confident delivery doesn’t change how you sound when your heart rate goes up. The only reliable way to perform well under pressure is to have already done it – many times, in conditions close to the real thing. That is why every session is built around doing: you speak, you get feedback, you try again, and you notice the difference straight away.

This kinaesthetic approach means the skills live in your body, not just your notes. When the moment comes, you don’t have to remember a list of tips. Your breathing, your voice and your structure are already there, so you can pay attention to the people in front of you instead of to your own nerves.

It also means progress is visible. Recording yourself before and after shows you what has changed, which builds the kind of confidence that lasts beyond a single event.

    What you leave with

    • A short daily drill to keep new habits automatic.
    • Clearer key sounds and more natural English rhythm.
    • Confidence speaking in meetings without being asked to repeat yourself.
    • Your own presentations rehearsed with the new patterns.

How it works – online and in London

Sessions run live on Zoom, so you can work with Alexander from anywhere, or in person in London when you want to rehearse in a real room. The work is the same either way: short explanations, lots of doing, and honest feedback straight away.

If you prefer to start on your own, the course gives you 7 modules and 21 short video classes you can work through at your own pace, with the option of personal video feedback on top.

Sound as clear as you think
